CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A busy intersection in southwest Charlotte was closed for hours after one person died in a crash early Tuesday morning, officers said. The road has since reopened.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said it was investigating a fatal crash at the intersection of Granite Street and Westinghouse Boulevard just before 4:30 a.m.
All lanes of Westinghouse Boulevard between Granite Street and Commerce Boulevard shut down as a result of the crash.
One person was found dead at the scene, according to Medic.
CMPD asked drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes during the investigation.
