Fairview Road in Southpark reopens after fatal crash

Fairview Road was closed between Carmel Road and Colony Road for several hours Thursday afternoon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Fairview Road in Charlotte's Southpark neighborhood has reopened Thursday evening after a deadly crash closed the road in both directions for several hours.

The closure impacted traffic in both directions between Carmel Road and Colony Road. Traffic between Charlotte Country Day School and the SouthPark Mall was redirected to avoid the road closure.

The crash involved a motorcycle and another vehicle, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

At least one person died in the crash, according to Medic.
