GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Three people, including two firefighters, were taken to the hospital after a crash involving a fire truck in Gaston County Wednesday morning, officials said.
Firefighters from the Lucia Bend Fire Department were responding to a call when their fire engine was involved in a crash near the intersection of Horseshoe Bend Beach Road and North Carolina 16, Chief David Toomey said. The fire truck's lights and sirens were on when the crash happened.
Two firefighters and another person were taken to the hospital. Officials have not provided an update on their conditions at this time.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. No further details were made available.
