CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A section of Freedom Drive in west Charlotte has reopened after being closed due to downed communication lines, officials said.
Multiple crews responded to a crash that knocked down a utility pole and power lines along Freedom Drive near Alleghany Street early Friday. Both directions of Freedom Drive were expected to be closed until Friday afternoon while Duke Energy works to repair the utility pole and power lines.
Drivers can take Tuckaseegee Road as an alternate route around the closure, which is between Alleghany Street and Ashley Road.
It's been a rough day for power lines, as later on Friday, all of Independence Boulevard outbound lanes between Charlottetowne Avenue and Briar Creek Road are shut down due to power lines falling onto the road.
