GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A crash shut down a portion of Interstate 85 South for hours on Sunday afternoon.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the crash happened just before 3 p.m. in Gaston County near Exit 21 for McAdenville.
According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a person driving a 2014 Toyota Camry was traveling north on I-85 and collided with a tractor trailer, lost control and collided with two other vehicles.
Kevin Regis Cromie, 60, died as a result of the crash and four others were injured, according to highway patrol. Those who were injured are expected to be OK.
The road has since reopened, and the investigation is still ongoing.
