GASTONIA, N.C. — One person was killed in a head-on crash in Gastonia on Thursday morning, state troopers said.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the crash happened along Chapel Grove Road near Donnabrook Lane in southwest Gastonia around 8:15 a.m.
Troopers said the driver of a Lincoln Continental was traveling south on Chapel Grove Road when they crossed the center line and hit a GMC W4500 head-on. The driver of the Lincoln, 32-year-old Scott Hampton Brooks, died on impact. The driver of the GMC was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
The driver of the GMC used his horn to get Hampton's attention before the crash, according to Highway Patrol.
