I-485 reopens near I-77

The road was closed for about an hour.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — All lanes of the inner loop of Interstate 485 were closed near Interstate 77 Friday afternoon after a crash.

The closure, which started at 3:44 p.m., happened at mile marker 23 after a wreck happened. All lanes were closed at exit 23 through exit 26, causing miles of traffic backup. The road reopened just before 5 p.m.

Traffic cameras showed multiple emergency vehicles at the scene of the crash.

Huntersville Fire posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, that they responded to the scene of the crash. 

Fire officials said one patient had to be extricated and was transported to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries, according to Medic.
