1 killed in I-485 crash in northwest Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person has died following a crash on Interstate 485 in northwest Charlotte late Thursday afternoon, according to Medic. Another person was transported to Atrium Health's Carolina Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

Traffic was delayed on both the inner and outer loops of I-485 following the crash near Exit 18.

This section of I-485 is between the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport and Northlake Mall.

Drivers were able to use I-77 and I-85 as an alternate route.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known publicly.
