I-277 reopens after crash near Uptown Charlotte

A crash had closed the outer loop lanes of I-277 headed from Independence toward Brookshire.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — All lanes of the Interstate 277 outer loop have reopened following a crash Monday morning.

Around 10 a.m.,  the lanes on the north side of Uptown Charlotte were closed near North Graham Street because of the crash. These are the lanes closest to NoDa.

Drivers headed between Independence Freeway (also known as U.S. 74) and Brookshire Freeway (also known as North Carolina State Road 16), would have sought an alternate route. The inner loop of I-277, which loops around the south side of Uptown Charlotte near South End, can be used as a detour.

Five people suffered minor injuries, according to Medic. They were taken to Atrium Health's Carolina Medical Center hospital for treatment.
