CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people were hurt in a crash that caused miles-long backups on Interstate 77 in southwest Charlotte on Thursday.
The crash happened around 8 a.m. on the northbound side of I-77 near Arrowood Road, which is Exit 3. The three left lanes were closed by the crash, which is just north of the interchange with Interstate 485 and Carowinds Boulevard.
One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to Medic. Another person suffered minor injuries in the wreck.
Traffic was backed up for several miles with drivers heading into Charlotte from the South Carolina communities of Fort Mill, Rock Hill and Tega Cay.
