HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A busy interchange from Interstate 485 to Interstate 77 in Huntersville is closed due to an overturned 18-wheeler that spilled fuel on the highway, officials said.
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. on the ramp from the inner loop of I-485 to I-77. Multiple agencies responded to the crash, including Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, Huntersville Fire and Medic. One person suffered injuries that aren't considered life-threatening, according to Medic. CMPD confirmed the truck spilled fuel, but it's unclear how much was lost.
Officials closed the ramp from I-485 inner to I-77. Exit 23B is expected to be closed until 6 p.m., according to DriveNC.
Drivers in Huntersville can take the exit for Old Statesville Road as an alternate route. You can follow Old Statesville Road over I-485 and back onto the outer loop, then exit to northbound I-77.
