I-85 in Rowan County opens after crash

Three southbound lanes of Interstate 85 were blocked after a crash near North Carolina Highway 150, NCDOT said.

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A crash caused major delays on Interstate 85 in Rowan County Friday.

Three of four southbound lanes on I-85 were blocked due to a crash near exit 84,  which is the exit for North Carolina Highway 150, NCDOT said. It happened near mile marker 83 just across the county line in northern Rowan County. Delays stretched into neighboring Davidson County.

The lanes reopened by 5 p.m.

I-85 detour

Drivers can take exit 84 and continue across the highway to access U.S. 29/70. Drivers will follow the highway for about 5 miles before turning left onto East Jefferson Street. 

Drivers will then go approximately 1 mile and turn right onto I-85.
