ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — All lanes of southbound Interstate 85 reopened after a crash caused major delays in China Grove on Monday morning, according to North Carolina DOT.
The crash happened just before 7 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-85 about a mile south of Exit 68, which is for North Carolina 152. Traffic cameras in the area showed traffic backed up for several miles to the Webb Road exit on I-85.
According to DriveNC, all lanes of I-85 were blocked while crews responded to the scene. The road was fully reopened just after 8 a.m.
Drivers in the area can use U.S. 29 south as an alternate route. There are then multiple options for getting back on I-85, including Jackson Lake Road and Dale Earnhardt Boulevard. Drivers can also take Old Salisbury-Concord Road to Old Beatty Ford Road and get back on I-85 past the crash.
