I-85 will be closed at Exit 27. Drivers are being asked to use a detour to get around the closure.
Crews broke ground on the $173 million hospital in June 2021. CaroMont says the facility could open as soon as next year. It's expected to include an emergency room, labs and 60-80 inpatient units.
CaroMont Regional Medical Center cares for 250,000 patients each year and has seen a very steady increase in patients the last several years. A new hospital will help CaroMont better serve eastern Gaston County and CaroMont hopes to hope the new facility as early as 2023.
