CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash involving a Medic ambulance in north Charlotte, the agency said.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. Friday along Interstate 77 near Cindy Lane, which is just north of the interchange with Interstate 85. The right lane of southbound I-77 was closed for about 20 minutes near Exit 13A due to the crash. Two additional Medic crews responded to the crash.
An initial report said two people suffered serious injuries, but Medic later clarified that the driver who crashed into the ambulance was the only person with serious injuries. The second person taken to the hospital was already on the way to a hospital with Medic. That person suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to Medic.
Two Medic employees were evaluated at the crash site and declined further treatment.
