ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Alexander County Wednesday night, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened around 8 p.m. on Kirby Lackey Road new Shew Road, which is north of Taylorsville. Devante Clark lost control of his 2007 Honda motorcycle and crashed into a Ford Expedition that was going the opposite direction, state troopers said. Clark, 27, was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene of the crash.
The initial investigation indicates speed was the primary factor in the crash. The driver of the Ford wasn't injured in the collision and no charges will be filed, according to troopers. The road was closed for two hours while Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
