CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The inner loop of Interstate 485 is back open in south Charlotte after multiple crashes led to lengthy closures Friday morning.
The first crash happened around mile marker 63, which is near Pineville-Matthews Road. A second crash happened just past that first wreck, near South Boulevard. Officials closed all lanes of the inner loop for several hours while they were working to clear the scene.
One person was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Medic.
All lanes of I-485 reopened around 7:45 a.m.
Detour for drivers: In between the two crash sites, you can take 51/Pineville-Matthews Road west to the I-77 exit. If not, you will be diverted off 485 on South Blvd.
