CHARLOTTE, N.C. — North Carolina State Highway Patrol announced it is adding 25 Ford Mustangs to its fleet, carrying on the agency's use of muscle cars to monitor highways in the Tar Heel State.
State Highway Patrol said the 2024 Mustangs cost about the same as other vehicles in their fleet. The new Mustang patrol cars will primarily be used on interstates in North Carolina, according to a Facebook post by Highway Patrol.
"History and traditions are an important part of our Patrol Family and the use of Mustangs have their beginnings on the SHP in the '80s and early '90s," the post reads.
Highway Patrol used the post to advertise its job openings. Click here for more information.
