Northbound I-77 reopens after closing due to crash

It's unknown at this time what caused the wreck.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Northbound Interstate 77 was completely closed for nearly an hour Tuesday morning due to a crash. 

The incident happened at 9:13 a.m. near the Clanton Road exit at mile marker 7. 

The interstate reopen just before 10 a.m.

It's unknown at this time what caused the wreck or the severity of the crash.

Traffic backed up for multiple exits during the closure.

The way to avoid the slowdown was to exit at Remount Road and try to navigate north on Toomey Avenue or South Tryon Street.
