CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Thousands of runners will hustle to Uptown Charlotte for the Novant Health Charlotte Marathon on Saturday. Participation in the event will benefit the Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital.
The race will begin in Uptown Charlotte but cover many local neighborhoods including East Over, Myers Park, Dilworth, Southend, Wilmore, NoDa, Plaza Midwood, and the Greenway. Runners will loop around Bank of America stadium and most of Uptown. Then, the race heads toward Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital, loops around Queens Road, around Dilworth, Southend, Wilmore, and back toward Uptown.
After that, it’s off to NoDa and Plaza Midwood, including two stops across the Greenway. Roads like The Plaza and North Davidson are included. Eventually, participants go back to the way they came and finally finish on South Graham in Uptown Charlotte.
From beginning to end, the race is estimated to take 6 hours. That is an estimate from the marathon breakdown. It includes from the lead runner start to the estimated time clear for the roads. You can find a full breakdown of the timing here, but we’ve also included what we think you need to know below.
