CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A pedestrian was hit and killed in east Charlotte late Wednesday night, police said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to a crash involving a pedestrian along The Plaza near Matheson Avenue and Clemson Avenue just after midnight Wednesday night.
When officers arrived, they found 58-year-old Lisa Pettis suffering from serious injuries after she was hit by a vehicle. Pettis was rushed to the hospital by Medic, where she was pronounced dead, according to CMPD.
Detectives say Pettis was not in a crosswalk when she was hit by a 2021 Hyundai Kona. The driver of the Hyundai was wearing their seatbelt and was not impaired, CMPD says. No charges have been filed in connection with this crash but CMPD says the investigation is active and ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses may also call 704-432-2169, extension 3, to speak directly with Detective Jamieson.
