Detectives say Pettis was not in a crosswalk when she was hit by a 2021 Hyundai Kona. The driver of the Hyundai was wearing their seatbelt and was not impaired, CMPD says. No charges have been filed in connection with this crash but CMPD says the investigation is active and ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses may also call 704-432-2169, extension 3, to speak directly with Detective Jamieson.
