Providence Road reopens after emergency water pipe repair

Charlotte Water crews closed a section of Providence Road due to emergency repairs Tuesday evening.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Providence Road is back open after Charlotte Water crews closed one lane in each direction for an emergency water pipe repair Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Charlotte Water crews were initially called to the intersection of Providence Road and South Colonial Avenue, near Colonial Park, for water pipe repairs a little after 1 p.m. Tuesday. Officials initially expected water service to be disrupted for a couple of hours before announcing one outbound lane of Providence would be closed through the evening.
