Map and list show detailed race course for Saturday's Charlotte Marathon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Marathon on Saturday, which stretches over 26 miles from Uptown Charlotte through numerous neighborhoods before returning to Uptown, will result in numerous lane and road closures for drivers.

7,500 runners from 45 states and eight countries are expected to participate. The number of runners has increased 30% since 2019, according to Charlotte Marathon organizers.

The marathon begins on Graham Street in Uptown Charlotte at 7:20 a.m.. From there, runners will travel through the neighborhoods of East Over, Myers Park, Dilworth, Southend, Wilmore, NoDa, and Plaza Midwood. At times, the race course revisits some neighborhoods.

Not all roads will be completely closed during the race. Some roadways will have partial closures and some roadways will only temporarily close with immediate reopening after the last runner travels through the area.

Organizers have also published a more detailed turn-by-turn of the race course, which helps runners navigate while also helping drivers anticipate how quickly some roads may reopen.

Transit impacts

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will delay the start of CityLYNX Gold Line service on Saturday until 10:30 a.m. because of the marathon.
