FORT MILL, S.C. — A project to redesign an intersection in southern portions of Fort Mill has been completed and opened to the public Friday.
The new intersection of Spratt Street and Fort Mill Parkway near Riverview Elementary School opened to drivers Friday.
The new design makes it easier for traffic to interchange between U.S. 21, Interstate 77 and points westward. Whereas those travelers used to previously turn onto and off of the parkway at the intersection with Spratt Street, they will now continue straight. Traffic to and from Spratt Street will now have to turn.
The project cost $8.5 million and used funding from the Pennies for Progress project. Pennies for Progress is the name of the York County Capital Projects Sales and Use Tax Programs.
