School bus runs off road in Union County, injuring 4: Sheriff

Three students and the driver were hurt when a school bus ran off the road in Union County on Wednesday morning.

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Four people were hurt when a school bus taking students to Porter Ridge High School ran off the road on Wednesday morning, the Union County Sheriff's Office said. 

Emergency crews responded to a crash involving a school bus on Mill Grove Road near Lawyers Road. Investigators said the bus ran off the road in a curve, injuring three students and the bus driver. There were 33 students on the bus at the time of the crash. 

Everyone who was hurt in the crash suffered minor injuries, deputies said. 

Mill Grove Road is currently closed while deputies investigate what caused the crash. Drivers in the Hemby Bridge area should avoid Mill Grove Road until further notice.
