4 Garinger students seriously hurt in crash on Shamrock Drive, CMS says

Five people were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after a crash on Shamrock Drive near Eastway, Medic said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Four students from Garinger High School were seriously hurt in a crash along Shamrock Drive in east Charlotte Thursday, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools confirmed. At least one other person is believed to have also been injured, according to information from Medic.

"This is the second tragic incident our school has suffered in the past week," LeDuan Pratt, the principal at Garinger High School, said in a statement while referencing the death of a 14-year-old student on Sunday. "We know that this is a difficult time for everyone and we ask for you to support each other as we deal with all that has happened."

Around 9:30 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to a crash in the 3200 block of Shamrock Drive, which is between Glenville Avenue and Finchley Drive, near the Methodist Home Recreation Center. According to Medic, three people were rushed to Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Two others were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Medic said.
