The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Old Pineville Road and Silverleaf Road. Power is expected to be restored by 4 p.m.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hundreds of people are still without power after a car crashed into a power pole in south Charlotte early Monday morning.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on Old Pineville Road at Silverleaf Road, which is just south of Archdale Drive.

Duke Energy crews were called to the scene and are working to repair the pole and power lines that were damaged in the wreck. More than 2,000 customers lost power initially due to the wreck but that number is down to about 700 as of 9 a.m.

Duke Energy said power is expected to be restored for all customers by around 4 p.m., nearly eight hours later than the original estimated time of 8:30 a.m.
