CHARLOTTE, N.C. — If you think drivers are a little too aggressive on the roads and highways of Charlotte, you're not alone.
According to a new study from GasBuddy, Charlotte is ranked No. 11 nationally for the most aggressive drivers. The Queen City was the highest-ranked city in the Carolinas and is sixth nationally for speeding incidents. Charlotte beat several major cities, including Dallas, Chicago and New York City.
On Wednesday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police confirmed a case of road rage on Independence Boulevard when a man fired shots into a vehicle. The suspect has not been arrested.
Fridays have the most aggressive driving events, while drivers tend to be most patient and friendly on Wednesdays. On average, aggressive driving is up 14 percent on Friday, the study found.
Los Angeles is home to the nation's most aggressive drivers, followed by Philadelphia, Sacramento, Atlanta and San Francisco. Last year, GasBuddy examined the states with the most aggressive drivers. North Carolina ranked No. 5.
