Teen driver killed when his vehicle hits tree, officials say

Investigators said the teen ran off Kingsburry Road in Clover and struck a tree. He died at the scene.

CLOVER, S.C. — A 16-year-old was killed in a crash in Clover on Tuesday, York County officials said. 

The York County Coroner's Office was called to a crash along Kingsburry Road on Tuesday afternoon. A 16-year-old driver, identified as Sami Fayad, was driving when his vehicle ran off the road and crashed into a tree. Fayad died at the scene.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating what led up to the crash and a toxicology report is pending. No further information was released.
