CityLYNX Gold Line reopens after fallen tree disrupts street car, closes road

A tree that fell on Beatties Ford Road Friday near Johnson C. Smith University has since been removed.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A portion of Beatties Ford Road near Johnson C. Smith University has reopened after a tree fell on the road and street car tracks.

CityLYNX gold line street car service was disrupted because of the fallen tree, according to the Charlotte Area Transit System. CATS resumed normal operations on the gold line on Saturday afternoon.

Weather across the greater Charlotte area Friday remained breezy with scattered rain. As of Noon Friday, winds were steady at 16 mph with gusts near 30 mph, according to the official weather observation at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
