INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — The right lane of U.S. 74 eastbound is closed in Indian Trail Wednesday because of a water main break.
Crews are working to repair the water main near the intersection of Faith Church Road.
Drivers are advised to avoid U.S. 74, also known as Independence Boulevard, until the roadway has fully reopened. Drivers can use the U.S. 74 Bypass, which is a toll road, for a detoured route. Eastbound U.S. 74 carries traffic outbound from Charlotte during the evening rush hour.
Drivers can still access the Alexis Pointe neighborhood while Union County Water works to complete the repairs.
Union County drivers are also advised to avoid Lancaster Avenue on Thursday morning. Work there to repair another water leak will close that road beginning at 9 a.m. Work on that repair is expected to be completed Thursday by 6 p.m.
