Wilkinson Boulevard crash brings down power lines, injures 3

Three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries following the crash, Medic confirmed.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — All lanes of Wilkinson Boulevard near Remount Road were closed due to a crash that brought down a power pole, officials said.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation said the crash happened around 7:15 a.m. along U.S 74, which is Wilkinson Boulevard, near Remount Road.

Three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries following the crash, Medic confirmed.

Duke Energy told WCNC Charlotte a transformer was knocked off due to the crash. Crews repaired the damaged power equipment in the hours after the crash. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department advised drivers to avoid the area while crews work on the scene.
