YORK, S.C. — It may sound like hogwash, but two lanes of Old York Road were temporarily closed Thursday because of a giant pig blocking the road.
The York County Sheriff's Office said onlookers marveling at the "road hog" led to delays, ultimately causing the road to temporarily close.
The sheriff's office said the owners of the pig -- known as Papa Pig -- came to load him in their trailer and take him home. The story wasn't over there, though. Papa Pig turned out to be so large that he broke his owners' trailer.
The YCSO Mounted Patrol brought a horse trailer to the scene to assist in getting Papa Pig safely home. Mounted Patrol Commander Mark McCarter wrangled Papa Pig to get him in the trailer, and sent him on his way.
"Mr. Pig is safely out of the road and on his way home," the York County Sheriff's Office said in a tweet.
