CHARLOTTE, N.C. — When it comes to getting deals on travel, Scott’s Cheap Flights is tough to beat.
The team at Scott’s Cheap Flights has come out with a list of the cheapest flight destinations in the U.S. this year.
They found the spots with the most deals share a handful of similarities: They’re places with large and/or multiple airports (think New York with JFK, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty airport in close proximity to each other), and multiple airlines fly to and from the airport which generates healthy competition when it comes to ticket prices.
Here are some of the locations to make Scott’s Cheap Flights list of U.S. destinations with the cheapest flights this year:
Tampa, Florida
While not the largest city in Florida, Scott’s Cheap Flights said Tampa is home to some low-cost airline carriers like Frontier Airlines which helps to drive down the cost of flights on all other airlines that service the area.
Miami, Florida
Scott’s Cheap Flights points to the two competing airports in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area as one of the reasons it made the cheapest flights list.
Washington, D.C.
This is another spot with airports in close proximity, one being a hub from American Airlines.
New York City, New York
This bucket-list destination not only has multiple airports in close proximity, but all of the major US airlines also have hubs in one of the airports.
