CHARLOTTE, N.C. — North Carolina has been ranked the fifth-best state to drive, according to data compiled by WalletHub.
The financial website looked at 31 factors including cost of ownership, traffic, safety, and access to vehicle maintenance.
Iowa and Georgia topped the list, respectively, followed by Ohio and Oklahoma.
South Carolina ranked 33rd on the list.
California topped the states with the highest average highest gas prices while also being the state with the least days of precipitation. It is also home to the drivers who spend the most time stuck in traffic.
The website found drivers spent 51 hours, or about $869 worth of productivity time, sitting in traffic. Drivers in West Virginia and North Dakota spent the least amount of time in rush hour traffic congestion.
