CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Google says a new tool can help you catch flights without feeling doubtful about if you're getting the best bang for your buck.
It's a "price guarantee" tool for Google Flights that will give you a refund if your airfare goes down in price after booking it. When you use the price guarantee tool, you'll see a shield icon with a dollar sign marked next to certain flights. If you book one of those marked flights, Google will then monitor the ticket price every day until your departure date. If your flight drops in price, Google will give you back the difference.
Sounds great, right? Just know there are some restrictions and caveats included.
The price guarantee is only available on flights that take off from the United States and there's a limit to how much money you can receive in refunds. The cap is $500 back in your pocket per calendar year. Additionally, the price difference between airfare has to be more than $5 to qualify for a refund.
