CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hurricane Milton isn't expected to hit North Carolina, but the Charlotte area is still feeling the impacts.
As of 10 p.m. Wednesday, 122 flights had been delayed at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and 110 had been canceled. By 12:50 p.m. Thursday, 68 flights had been delayed and 107 flights were canceled.
Most of the canceled flights are those to and from Florida.
On Monday, Milton became the fastest-growing hurricane in history. The process is called "rapid intensification." By definition, this term applies to any tropical cyclone that experiences an increase of maximum sustained winds by at least 35 mph within 24 hours.
