Charlotte's airport is the best in the nation for holiday travel, with an on-time departure rate of 77.5%, according to aGamble.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the best place to be, if you have to make a flight this holiday season.

According to the website aGamble, Charlotte's airport is the best in the nation for holiday travel, with an on-time departure rate of 77%.

This information is based on a comparison of on-time departures from the country's 50 largest airports. Other airports ranked on this list include Washington Dulles International, Detroit Metro Wayne County and Ronald Reagan Washington National.

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics said the Thanksgiving travel period officially kicks off on Nov. 18.
