CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Water inside a concourse at Charlotte Douglas International Airport affected how passengers got to their flights Thursday.
A statement from airport officials said a construction incident led to a significant amount of standing water within Concourse B. The water is affecting passenger flow within the hallway.
The airport later confirmed a water line was disrupted by the construction in the concourse.
Matthew Brown, a passenger who had a layover in Charlotte, shared photos to X showing the water near terminals B1 and B2. Some passengers were seen standing in the water, and another photo showed what appeared to be a hole in a wall.
Officials said airport crews and first responders from the Charlotte Fire Department are responding to the scene. Around 11:30 a.m., the water was shut off and cleanup was underway. Flights originally set to leave from gates B1-B4 were relocated, and the airline advised passengers to check with their airlines for where to go.
The airport later said the water was cleaned up and restoration for gates B1-B4 was underway.
