Here's why you should book your holiday flights now

Travel experts say cheap holiday deals start to pop up around this time of the year.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It's still August but you can see some big savings if you go ahead and start booking your holiday travel now.

Travel experts say you may want to go ahead and book your fall and winter flights now to save some big money.

Let's connect the dots.

REASON BEHIND DEALS

Travel experts say cheap holiday deals start to pop up around this time of the year. But most folks are still so focused on summer and Labor Day travel that they aren't booking those later flights.

REASONS TO BE OPTIMISTIC

Some experts also say flights should drop from the high prices we saw earlier this year. According to the latest consumer price index, average airline fares fell in July by about 8% compared to June.

FINDING DEALS

So how can you find cheap deals?

If you already know where you're traveling to, experts say do your research and download flight tracking apps so you can get alerts when there's a price drop.

PRICES COULD RISE

And keep in mind that prices could soar the closer it gets to the holiday season.
