CHARLOTTE, N.C. â Snow? Where are you? That is what most have been saying for over 1,000 days in the Charlotte area.
In fact, the 1,013-day streak and counting (as of Nov. 7) is the longest snow drought in Charlotte's history!
The new 10-year average shows that Charlotte should have an average of 3 inches of snowfall per season. However, we've had zero snow in back-to-back years.
Charlotte going without "measurable" snowfall (0.1" or more) isn't uncommon. It is rare for it to happen in consecutive years, though. The following graphic shows the years we only had a trace of snow, meaning you might've seen snowflakes but they melted because there was no accumulation.
This graphic shows calendar years, but if you break down snowy seasons from fall to spring, there have only been 11 snow seasons with just a trace of snow. But never before had Charlotte gone a full season without even a trace.
