WILMINGTON, N.C. — A Harris Teeter in Wilmington was a popular place to be Saturday evening after Florence swept through the area.
It was the only store in town with power, so people lined up around the building to get what they could.
"The only reason I'm here is for a steak and potato," one man said.
"Snacks and some drinks," another man said.
"I got a few things, and a friend of mine's letting me use his generator to cook something later, so I got him some beer," a woman told NBC Charlotte.
"To get some food for my grandkids," said a woman -- with 11 grandchildren at home.
Even though they were wet and hungry, plenty of people had smiles on their faces as they waited to buy food.
