Asheville water clear to drink, boil advisory lifted

Results that were delivered Monday showed the water was free of E. coli and other harmful contaminants.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Asheville residents got some great news on Monday -- a boil advisory has been lifted, and tap water can once again be used for drinking.

In a Buncombe County news conference highlighting ongoing Hurricane Helene recovery, officials said sampling of Asheville's water distribution system was finished Sunday morning.

Results that were delivered Monday showed the water was free of E. coli and other harmful contaminants.

"Sampling results confirm that the flushing process that began Oct. 30 when we were able to resume producing treated water has turned the system over, and raw water has been replaced with treated water," officials said.
