Bonnie Raitt announces benefit concert in Charlotte for Helene relief efforts

Joining 13-time Grammy winner Bonnie Raitt for the concert will be British R&B musician James Hunter.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Legendary singer-songwriter and guitarist Bonnie Raitt has announced a special benefit concert in Charlotte to raise funds for communities impacted by Hurricane Helene

The concert will take place on Nov. 20, 2024, at Ovens Auditorium. All net proceeds from the event will be donated to nonprofit organizations aiding hurricane recovery efforts. Funds raised will support local relief efforts, including the Emergency and Disaster Response Fund of The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. This foundation, which serves 18 counties in the region, distributes grants to nonprofits working on the front lines of disaster relief. Importantly, all administrative fees for the foundation's work will be waived, ensuring that every dollar raised goes directly to those in need.

Joining 13-time Grammy winner Bonnie Raitt for the concert will be British R&B musician James Hunter.

“We’re very much looking forward to kicking off the night for the great Bonnie Raitt, so bring your dancing shoes, and we’ll get you warmed up for a memorable evening of live music," Hunter said.

Tickets for the benefit concert will be available for presale starting Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at 10 a.m. local time, with general public sales beginning Friday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased through Raitt’s official website.

In her statement, Raitt expressed her deep concern for those affected by the devastating storm.

"Our hearts break for the devastated communities whose immeasurable pain and hardship continues," she said.

Raitt’s previously scheduled November 20th performance at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium has been rescheduled to April 23, 2025. Tickets purchased for the original date will remain valid for the rescheduled show, though refunds are available until Jan. 31, 2025.

This benefit show in Charlotte is part of Raitt’s Fall 2024 headlining tour, which spans multiple cities across the U.S., including stops in Houston, New Orleans, and several southeastern cities. The tour follows a busy year for Raitt, who was honored with three GRAMMY Awards earlier in 2024 and will be celebrated at the Kennedy Center Honors in December.
