Plaza Midwood tattoo shop raises nearly $10K for Helene recovery in one day

Green Ghost Tattoo held a Hurricane Helene Relief Flash event Saturday, with multiple tattoo artists offering dozens of designs to be tattooed for $100 each.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A tattoo shop in Charlotte's Plaza Midwood neighborhood raised thousands of dollars on Saturday for western North Carolina communities recovering after Hurricane Helene.

Green Ghost Tattoo, located on Lamar Avenue, held a Hurricane Helene Relief Flash event Saturday, with multiple tattoo artists offering over 50 designs to be tattooed for $100 each. Many of the designs were inspired by the region, including a design featuring mountains and the phrase "MTN STRONG," a stamp with the mountains and a heart, and the letters "AVL" for Asheville.

The funds are set to be donated to the Asheville Survival Program and Rural Organizing and Resilience.

The shop did between 60 and 70 tattoos on Saturday. The tattoo artists all donated 100% of their tips from the flash event, and between the $100 tattoo fees and the added tips, the shop raised $9,370 to donate to western North Carolina relief efforts.
