GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- She was holding her baby in her arms when the tree crashed into the living room.
"It sounded like a freight train," a neighbor, Billy Hawkins, said.
It was 1:30 p.m. on Moses Court in Dallas, North Carolina, when it happened.
Tammy Gill said she had taken measures to protect her son, Kade Gill, from the dangers that Florence brought to the area on Sunday.
"We moved in the house with him," Tammy Gill said. "Wherever we would go, we would take him. I even moved the living room around to make sure the swing wasn't in the path of these trees. But this tree was the one that came down."
Neighbors heard the crash and called 911.
But it was too much for Kade Gill. His parents said the boy died at the hospital from his injuries.

Sunday marked three months since Kade was born.
"He was a fighter in the beginning," his mother said. "He came 5 weeks early, survived in NICU 10 days and came home."
County commissioner Tracy Philbeck posted about the death on Facebook.
"Tragically, a three-month-old child has died as a result of injuries sustained when a tree fell on a mobile home in Dallas, N.C. Please keep this family in your prayers. Please take this storm serious; trees are continuing to fall and with saturated ground more is expected."
