As Hurricane Florence swirls through the Atlantic towards the Carolinas, NASA satellites and astronauts have captured awe-inspiring images of the storm from space.
The photos show the storm's thick white clouds churning above the Atlantic. The category 2 storm is expected to make landfall late Thursday or early Friday. Forecasters expect a life-threatening storm surge to bring heavy flooding.
Astronaut Ricky Arnold tweeted a message of support to those affected by the hurricane from the International Space Station.
