CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Halloween Forecast:
Improving conditions for trick or treating after a batch of heavy rain and some lightning pushed through the area this evening.
For areas still dealing with heavy showers and lightning, continue to be weather aware and head indoors if you hear thunder. This meets the Weather Aware criteria deemed when "there is a threat for lightning that could impact large outdoor gatherings."
Most areas are in the clear for trick or treating. However, use caution where it's continuing to rain and areas of low visibility. Dress accordingly for soggy grounds and some shower activity.
If you plan to trick-or-treat on actual Halloween evening, our team suggests having a costume back-up or anticipate having an umbrella or rain jacket regardless.
Rain will clear overnight but it will be a foggy and damp start to the first morning of November.
Halloween Stats:
Since Charlotte record keeping dating back to 1878 it has rained on Halloween 29% of the time. But over the past 22 years, this is only the 4th time it has rained on October 31st.
