CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- High temperatures Saturday afternoon will approach 90 degrees, and if the temp doesn't break the 90 degree mark, it'll be the first time in more than two weeks Charlotte has had highs only in the upper-80s.
The main story for Saturday is the risk for severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and early evening.
Many of the thunderstorms will have the capability of producing heavy winds, lightning and brief but heavy rainfall. Hail and tornadoes are not as likely, but First Warn Storm Team Meteorologist John Wendel says they're still possible.
A front moving through the area overnight Saturday will usher in drier weather for Sunday. Sunday should be sunny and less humid with highs in the 80s.
The last time Charlotte saw a high this year only in the 80s was June 10.
