When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the roof. It took a team of 28 firefighters about a half hour to get the fire under control. No one was hurt during the incident, according to the Charlotte Fire Department. Investigators determined the fire was caused by a lightning strike that occurred as thunderstorms were moving through the Charlotte area.

The house suffered an estimated $105,000 in damage. Firefighters said the flames were contained to a detached garage and didn't affect the home's living space.
